UPDATE ON MY MISSION:
When I took on this challenge to walk a marathon and raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, I was one of the unique few involved that wasn't personally affected by these cancers. That's just recently changed. Mike Travers, husband to my dear friend Wendy and father to the beautiful Delaney was just diagnosed with "Hairy Cell" Leukemia. Wendy tells me that is a very rare, yet very "treatable" variety. There is no cure. I asked Wendy if I could dedicate my efforts to their family and she was pleased, so I'm walking to support the Travers family and am doubling my efforts to bring in as much money as possible for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please send your prayers and wishes to Mike, Wendy and Delaney and while your at it, send your support for the cause.
Inspiration is not always the easiest thing to find in life. But sometimes you find something that inspires you to be a better person. I'm inspired by John, my love, and our kids. I'm inspired by the wonderful people that surround me in my life, and I am most recently inspired by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. What a wonderful program and a wonderful cause. Team in Training is able to put 75% of all foundraising dollars directly to finding a cure and supporting those who suffer from Leukemia or Lymphoma. The other 25% goes towards my training and the travel expenses for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. Yes, you heard it right. I'm training for a Marathon, all 26.2 miles of it. I'm learning race walking (it's so much harder than you think) and I'm up to 10 miles. Only another 16.2 to go and I'll be ready. My goal in fundraising is $3500. (and you thought the physical goal was the only challenge) Every little bit helps. Check out the website and spend some time on the donation page
